Clinicians are often faced with difficult challenges and in rare cases multiple challenges with conflicting possibilities. This case will discuss a severely burned, undersized pediatric patient. The case presents with communication issues and differing viewpoints between accepting physicians. Ultimately the crew intervened and navigated a challenging airway scenario requiring hybrid procedural approach including surgical cricothyroidotomy and retrograde intubation along with torso escharotomy. Finally, the case will discuss post-hoc analysis and improvements made program wide in response to this case and conclude with psychological emotional effects on the crew.
