Director of Education
HealthNet Aeromedical Services
Marlinton, West Virginia, United States
Nicholas Cooper, RN, BSN, CFRN, was born and raised in southern West Virginia. Nick grew up in Kanawha County and then headed first to Potomac State College to play baseball and then continued on to West Virginia University to get his nursing degree. Nursing was a choice that was highly encouraged by his Mom, a critical care transport medic and educator, and also a path that his older sister was already trailblazing at WVU.
A mountaineer at heart, Nick started his nursing career as an ICU RN at WVU hospital. After a few years learning and excelling in the ICU, Nick realized his nursing career dream when a flight nurse position became available for HealthNet Aeromedical Services. For nearly a decade, he worked as a flight nurse and completed over 1000 patient transports.
The next career move came in 2017 when HealthNet was recruiting a Director of Education. Nick transitioned into an organizational leader and has revolutionized a highly-respected and acclaimed Education Department for HealthNet Aeromedical Services.
To stay Mission Ready, Nick never shies away from an opportunity to fly or a call that he’s needed to jump on an ambulance. Patient care remains a priority whether it’s in practice or in the development of new team members.
When Nick isn’t working to mold and teach hundreds of HealthNet employees, he can be found with his wife in Pocahontas County as they attempt to navigate parenting twin toddlers.
