Jim has been a Critical Care Paramedic since 1996. He has worked for multiple University-affiliated transport programs such as Johns Hopkins, The University of Maryland and, most recently, The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In addition to working as a civilian Critical Care and Flight Paramedic, Jim spent 16 of his 20 years in the US Army/National Guard as a Combat Flight Medic where he deployed to Iraq in 2005 as a MEDEVAC Section Sergeant with a forward–deployed team. Jim was instrumental in developing flight nurse training standards that would eventually become the Joint Enroute Care Course, used as the foundation for training flight nurses and other providers in MEDEVAC operations. Jim has also spent 12 years as a collegiate adjunct faculty and EMS educator, helping to grow future generations of paramedics. Jim has lectured at several local, regional and national conferences throughout his 26 years in EMS and Critical Care.
