Successful surgical repair for severe congenital heart defects has been around long enough for patients to have survived into middle adulthood. These patients present a unique set of challenges – they have abnormal anatomy at baseline, are unfamiliar, and may have novel complications. This presentation will review the repairs for major congenital defects and look at the long term effects, complications, and management of patients who have had those operations.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the Fontan circulation
Discuss arrhythmic complications of congenital heart disease repairs
Describe the etiology of the development of pulmonary hypertension in patients with CHD
