Michael Austin, FP-C, CCP-C, NRP, is the Air Medical Liaison for the Florida Association of Critical Care Transport Specialists (FACTS). In this role, he deploys to Florida's State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) during a hurricane or other disaster, where he manages all rotor-wing assets in the state.
Michael is a seasoned flight and critical care paramedic. With a career spanning over twenty-nine years, Michael has dedicated himself to pre-hospital care as a practitioner and an educator. He began his career working for a busy local EMS agency, leading him to a position with TraumaOne Flight Services at UF Health Jacksonville as a critical care flight paramedic. Michael currently holds the rank of Major and serves as the Clinical Services Educator for AdventHealth EMS in the West Florida Division, where he has been instrumental in creating advanced clinical care guidelines and implementing an FTO training program. He also manages a rigorous onboarding process and is part of a continuous quality improvement program. His department has been awarded over $285,000 in equipment and training from grants he has co-authored.
Michael still has his boots on the ground as he moonlights for Global Medical Response as a ground critical care paramedic.
In 2023, Michael was recognized as Florida's EMS Educator of the Year.
