Manager of Medical Command Regions 3/4
HealthNet Aeromedical Services
Proctorville, Ohio, United States
Victoria “Torie” Geis was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. She moved to Huntington, WV, to attend Marshall University where she earned a Bachelor of Science. Upon graduation, Torie began working for a local EMS agency to obtain the patient contact hours that would support a PA career path. She enjoyed the work so much that she obtained her EMT certification and continued on as a full-time EMT while working towards her EMT-P certification. At the conclusion of the EMT-P program, she had also completed an associate degree in Paramedic Science and became a full-time EMT-P. With a goal of combining her desire to make a difference with her affinity for processes, data and quality, she went on to obtain a master’s degree in HealthCare Administration from Ohio University. Torie was hired by HealthNet Aeromedical Services as a Transport Navigator to support the newly developed, rather large, critical care IFT ground agency that had been implemented by a local hospital. After a year, Torie was promoted to fill her current position of Communication Manager in one of West Virginia’s five Medical Command Centers. Her command center is responsible for pre-hospital medical direction and state EMS driven data collection for 9 counties in the southern central portion of the state, the dispatch of 10 ground units and primary dispatch for 3 of HealthNet’s aircrafts. Since taking on this role, Torie has completed HealthNet’s flight academy and the AAMS CCTA program to obtain her MCCP to fly as medic within HealthNet’s system. The perspectives she gained from understanding both the communication workflow and the EMS operations have proved tremendously insightful as she strives to uphold the greater purpose of the EMS system and ultimately, the health and safety of the patients who are served in a multitude of capacities.
