Abiomed, Inc
Zach Roper, BSN, RN, PHRN, CCRN, NRP, FP-C. Critical Care Transport Trainer, Abiomed, Inc.
Zach Roper joined Abiomed in 2023 as a Critical Care Transport Trainer. In his role, Zach educates pre-hospital critical care transport clinicians nationwide about the entire line of Impella heart pumps with an emphasis on hemodynamics, device troubleshooting, and patient management during transport in ambulances, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft.
Before joining Abiomed, Zach spent over two decades in direct patient care. He began his career in healthcare as an EMT and went on to become a Paramedic. As a Paramedic, Zach worked in a busy 911 system and eventually followed a lifelong dream and became a Flight Paramedic. While flying, he fell in love with critical care, which inspired him to return to school and become a Registered Nurse. Over the next 8 years, Zach worked in neuro/trauma and cardiothoracic intensive care units and eventually transitioned back to the pre-hospital environment as a Critical Care Transport Nurse.
While gaining diverse clinical experience, Zach developed a passion for education. He has presented at local and national-level healthcare conferences and served as a co-chair of his transport teams’ education council.
Zach holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Wilmington University and a Paramedic Diploma from the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute.
