Flight volumes are low, patient acuity is dropping; perhaps crews are getting increased scrutiny or additional responsibilities from upper administration. We've all been there before. Any one of these factors can contribute to decreased satisfaction and burnout for our crew members, but what can we do as leaders to protect our staff from the effects of these phenomena? The answers lie within the organizational culture we build, the expectations we set and manage, and our investment into the development of our staff. This session will review current evidence in leadership theory and organizational culture to identify strategies to implement for building a culture to nurture resilient staff, as well as address areas of opportunity for maintaining engagement and performance of star performers.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss current published evidence on effective healthcare leadership styles.
Describe effective measures of maintaining employee engagement and preventing burnout.
Demonstrate personal changes in leadership style to positively affect change in organizational culture.
